At the Saskatoon Open Door Society, we believe that education can open doors to new opportunities, confidence, and long-term success. For many newcomers and refugees, starting over in a new country takes courage, and every step forward matters.

Through the generous support of our donors and partners, including Pearson, we are proud to offer scholarship opportunities that help newcomers and refugees continue their education, build new skills, and move closer to their goals.

Scholarship Opportunities

Pearson Family Student Award – $1000

This award supports eligible newcomer students who are building their future in Saskatoon.

Eligibility Criteria:

• Applicants must be 17–30 years of age
• Must reside in Saskatoon
• Must have been in Canada for 6 years or less
• Applicants must be Permanent Residents of Canada

Saskatoon Open Door Society Newcomer Scholarship – $1000

This scholarship supports newcomers who are ready to continue their education and take the next step toward their goals.

Eligibility Criteria:

• Applicants must be 17+ years of age
• Must reside in Saskatoon
• Must have been in Canada for 10 years or less

Saskatoon Open Door Society Refugee Scholarship – $2000

This scholarship supports refugees and students from refugee families as they pursue post-secondary education and future opportunities.

Eligibility Criteria:

• Applicants must be 17+ years of age
• Must reside in Saskatoon
• Applicants must have come to Canada under refugee status or have parents who did

These scholarships are designed to support refugees and newcomers who are ready to continue their education, build new skills, and create a stronger future for themselves and their families.
