What we do to help you get settled

Funded by the Government of Saskatchewan, Ministry of Immigration and Career Training (ICT), this
program assists newcomers to Canada and to Saskatchewan by providing orientation to resources in the
community, needs assessments, settlement planning, and referrals to employment services and other supports.

We are here to help you at every step of your settlement journey. Our assistance varies depending on how and when you arrived in Canada.

Note to new clients: you will automatically be enrolled in the Immigrant and Newcomer or Resettlement Assistance Program if your application meets the criteria.

Immigrants and Newcomers

For immigrants or refugees in their first three years following arrival in Canada.

  • Assess initial settlement needs and concern
  • Develop a settlement plan
  • Referrals to community resources and services to address settlement needs
  • Information related to housing, healthcare, education, transportation, and more.
  • Guidance and assistance with applying for government programs and benefits, such as Saskatchewan health card, GST/HST credit, and the Canada Child Benefit.

For Government-Assisted Refugees in the first 6 – 12 weeks following their arrival in Saskatoon.

  • Airport reception
  • Temporary housing
  • Document preparation
  • Connecting with health services
  • Finding permanent housing
  • Banking information and services
  • Referrals to basic services

 

Note: only Government-Assisted Refugees are eligible for the Refugee Assistance Program

Providing newcomers with general information and/or referrals to settlement services, language training, public services, and community resources in Saskatoon and the catchment area.
